Yusco, the BMW Group and Gireve deploy Plug & Charge on the « Le Plein » network
Yusco becomes the first charge point operator (CPO) to deploy Plug & Charge on Gireve's PKI infrastructure and to trial this rollout across part of its network with BMW and MINI vehicles. From 1 August, the technology will be available on the ultra-fast chargers of the « Le Plein » network's stations, before being gradually extended to the whole network and built natively into every future station, with a target of 500 stations by 2029. A new step towards charging that is ever simpler, smoother and more secure.

The BMW Group, Gireve and Yusco advance the rollout of Plug & Charge
Plug & Charge is gradually establishing itself as the new standard for electric-vehicle charging. The BMW Group, Gireve and Yusco today announce that they have trialled its industrial deployment across part of the « Le Plein » charging network, operated by Yusco.
This move into production follows a successful demonstrator carried out in April 2026 at a « Le Plein » station located in the Auchan Saint-Amarin car park. Several Plug & Charge sessions were then completed successfully with BMW and MINI vehicles whose certificates were managed by Gireve's PKI infrastructure.
From August, the 400 kW ultra-fast chargers of the « Le Plein » network's stations will offer this technology to drivers of BMW and MINI vehicles compatible with Plug & Charge since July 2023. They will simply need to plug in their vehicle for charging to start automatically — no badge, bank card or mobile app.
The rollout will be gradually extended to all of the network's direct-current (DC) fast-charging infrastructure. An extension to AC infrastructure is also being considered with new partners. Every future station on the network will integrate this technology natively, with a target of 500 stations deployed by 2029.
A new step towards mainstream Plug & Charge
Moving from a demonstrator to an industrial deployment is an important milestone for the electric-mobility sector. Beyond the technical achievement, it shows that it is now possible to guarantee a charging experience that is simple, secure and fully interoperable between carmakers, charge point operators and mobility service providers.
This achievement illustrates Yusco's ability to industrialise Plug & Charge in collaboration with Gireve and carmakers, and fits fully within the momentum set by the European AFIR regulation, which aims to harmonise the charging experience across the entire European Union. From 1 January 2027, new infrastructure will in particular have to support secure communication between the vehicle and the charger, as well as stronger interoperability between the ecosystem's various players.
By anticipating these regulatory and technological developments today, the BMW Group, Gireve and Yusco are helping to accelerate the adoption of Plug & Charge and to establish a new benchmark for the charging experience in Europe.

"At BMW, we believe the charging experience should be as intuitive as driving our vehicles. With Plug & Charge, our customers no longer have to authenticate: they simply plug in their vehicle and charging starts automatically. We are delighted to see this experience now available on the Le Plein network thanks to this collaboration with Gireve and Yusco."
— Lukas Savin, Head of Electromobility, BMW France
"Plug & Charge rests above all on trust between the vehicle, the charger and the various players in the ecosystem. Thanks to our PKI infrastructure, this trust becomes an operational reality and now enables large-scale deployment."
— Félix Mühl, Senior Business Development Manager at Gireve
"Our ambition is to offer the simplest possible charging experience. With Plug & Charge, the driver simply plugs in their vehicle and charging starts automatically. This rollout marks a new step in our commitment to ever smoother, more reliable and more accessible charging."
— Benjamin Lalin, COO of Yusco
